Savannah: Baking & Bonding

Emphasizing the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month ….

Savannah wanted to emphasize the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month with her friends in an exciting new environment.

Savannah explained: "During my 'Baking & Bonding' peer grant project, my friends and I gathered to bake and decorate cookies at a local restaurant. Baking together helped us relax and bond while benefiting our mental wellbeing. Baking a treat can lead to positive feelings of accomplishment, which tends to make people feel better about themselves. My friends truly enjoyed baking together and being able to decorate our cookies and create something special. I highly recommend baking a treat either alone or with friends to help alleviate anxiety or stress. We decorated the cookies with green icing to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, spreading positivity in our community."

Jamie, who also participated, said, "I learned plenty of things from Savannah about mental health awareness month and how important it is to express my feelings and find ways to deal with them and find peace." Furthermore, Savannah expressed: "I'm also profoundly thankful to the establishment, Parker’s, for granting me permission to host my event at their restaurant. They were incredibly accommodating and assisted me in promoting positivity within my community."

Thank you, Savannah, for sharing and celebrating with your group!
