My Ascension

A Documentary Film to Spread Hope and Fight Suicide

When 15-year-old varsity cheerleader Abby Anderson died by suicide, her mother Gillian founded my friend ABBY “to empower youth and young adults to take action in the arena of mental health and suicide prevention.”

A suicide attempt left 16-year-old varsity cheerleader Emma Benoit paralyzed, but propelled her to become a speaker and activist on a mission to use her painful experience to help others find hope.

my friend ABBY is proud to present a premier viewing of My Ascension, the documentary that shares the story of Emma Benoit, to bring attention to youth and young adult suicide prevention.

My Ascension is the recipient of a 2020 Media Award from Mental Health America

Please join us Sunday, April 11th, at 6pm for this free virtual screening!

Registration is required.

A live, one-hour panel discussion with Emma Benoit and filmmaker Greg Dicharry will follow. Our panel will include Dr. Hilary Blumberg, Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience and Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine; Actress Jessica Hecht; Olympic Gold Medalist Samantha Livingstone; and Gillian Anderson, founder of my friend ABBY.
