Showing Up During a Crisis
Today is a reminder to all the feelers, helpers, empaths and anyone struggling out there, that it’s okay - and NECESSARY - to take care of yourself.
It can be so easy to feel out of control, to feel the need to protect others when you’re not sure how, and to feel powerless in times of crisis.
BUT, what if I told you your power lies in showing up as your authentic self, in whatever capacity you normally do or in whatever capacity you are able to. Who you are and how you interact with and show up for the world around you is not only what you are able to control in moments of scary uncertainty, but it is your SUPERPOWER, and you have the ability to help others and change lives just by showing up and being yourself.
Don’t try to suddenly switch super powers in a desperate effort to be everything to everyone. Don’t suddenly become a yoga instructor when you’ve never done a yoga class in your life, because you think that’s what people need. Keep showing up the way that you know how.
At the same time, don’t feel obligated to show up for everyone all the time, because you are human and you need to show up for yourself before you can show up for others. It is okay and NECESSARY to take a step back and focus on YOU. It is okay to let others know that you are struggling and it’s okay to let others show up for you too. Asking for help is part of being a superhero, that’s why Justice League exists! We are stronger together!
When things feel big and scary and you feel powerless, please remember what your power is, that you are enough exactly as you are, that you don’t have to show up 100% of the time, and that it’s okay to not be okay. Remember to recharge, reset and reach out if you need help.
