Motivated to promote the importance of self-care and stress relief and how staying connected with the people you are close to plays a part in that, Safa hosted a creative activities event for her MFA Peer Project Grant.
She facilitated the event with a conversation about mental health, asking everyone to share their “Rose” (something good that has been occurring in your life), “Thorn” (something that you have been trying to overcome), and “Bud” (something you are looking forward to).
Safa provided the group with supplies to make tie dye t-shirts along with some delicious snacks, and incorporated music into the event to inspire creativity. The afternoon was a fun way to express their individual creativity in decorating their t-shirts, and allowed for an open flow of conversation about taking care of your own well-being.
“It’s so important to spend quality time with people that you love and to use creativity or silly activities as an outlet. Surround yourself with people that you can do this with! It is essential to your mental health.” Safa explained.
Thank you, Safa, for helping others to connect and share ideas about self-care.
