Meet Jes, a recent MFA grant recipient who used her grant money to organize a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training class. Similar to CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in a mental health crisis and can save lives.
The QPR class Jes organized had 20 teens and young adults in attendance who now have increased knowledge and confidence to help someone in crisis get the help they need. Trumbull Public Health, Trumbull EMS and The Hub also participated in the event.
Jes arranged for food to be donated by Vazzy's, designed a t-shirt for all who participated which highlighted the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and arranged for photographer Sydney Sheehan to attend and take photos.
We are so proud of Jes for organizing this meaningful and impactful event that can help save lives.
