“Henry”: Stress Relief Bags

“Henry” is a middle schooler who is getting help with his mental health struggles. He feels fortunate that he has help and resources, and wants to advocate for others who may not be as fortunate. His goal was to create “mental health bags” for incoming freshmen because they are in a new school and he thought they could get stressed.

With his grant money, he purchased stress toys, journals, and pencils, and added mental health resources. He left them with the school counselors, who thanked him, and said they would immediately begin handing them out to students in need.

“Henry” shared that “The experience was wonderful and I plan on doing something like this again soon, maybe outside of school.” He also tells us that completing his project has improved his self-esteem and happiness.

Congratulations “Henry” on being an MFA Peer Project Grant recipient and for making a difference!
