Eighteen year old Georgia wants others her age to know that they are not alone, and that talking about whatever negative feelings they might have is a healthy and productive way to handle them.
The goal of her project, “My Coping Stories,” is “to use my voice as a writer to project my emotions in the form of stories and poems,” she says. “By writing about tough topics like suicide and mental health struggles, I can share these stories with others and comfort them by showing them that they aren’t alone.”
Georgia plans to get the word out about her project on social media and aims to open up a dialogue among high school students. “Reading my stories could inspire them to produce their own and cope in the same way I do,” she says.
