Twenty-three year old Carin drew on personal experience to launch her project, a virtual reading of a play she wrote based on her own suicidal feelings and subsequent stay in a hospital psychiatric unit. Her play, King of Hearts, was written to appeal to young people from high school to young adulthood. Carin also anticipates that the play will help adults recognize signs of depression and addiction in their own children.

“I feel a reading of this honest and upfront show will start much needed conversations in our communities surrounding depression, suicide, and addiction,” Carin says, adding that a question and answer period after the performance will encourage dialogue
